Introduction to Revision piece: Pop Culture Versus Wedding Traditions
I chose to use this paper for my revision piece because it had some areas that needed tweaking and then only needed some additional examples of pop culture’s influence on traditional weddings. I included the whole paper first, with the revisions in the following version. It focuses on how wedding ceremonies have gone from a basic, standardized formula, to an “anything goes” approach in recent years. I discussed how it is now more common now to “create” a wedding ceremony that in some way represents the two individuals getting married. In my first draft of this paper, I lacked enough examples to really grab the attention and interest of the reader, and to prove my point that it is acceptable to have a wedding that is completely unique from anyone else’s. I will not be able to do a completely revised version, but any changes I have made, or inclusions of examples of unusual and unique wedding ceremonies, will be shown in bold print. I also have added an example of a person from a much older generation, who really doesn’t “get it”, when it comes to all these non-traditional parts of a wedding ceremony.
